Actually we are surrounded by many misunderstandings when it comes to dieting and that’s the reason many of you failed to achieve your goals.
"If you want to be slim and trim stop eating rice, don’t eat after 8 pm, avoid bananas and potatoes, no tea and coffee, skip eating totally~! "
How many times you have been advised to make these changes in your daily life by your friends and relatives when you said you wish to lose weight to become slim and trim!?
All the time! Right? And you started following all those without realizing that it may not work for you in order to lose weight.
Let’s look at some beliefs associated with dieting and the actual effect they have on you.
Belief #1 Stop eating to rice, potatoes and bananas they are full of fats!
Man! Why?? If you are vegan and health conscious you will relate that these three foods are the like chickens in vegetarian diet! Right?
Start making your own choice by eating one banana in your breakfast or snack routine without thinking about your calorie count. Banana in the morning will not only provide you with a dose of potassium, fibre, vitamin C, etc. but will also provide you with energy which will help you to be energetic throughout the day.
Where yo need to be careful while eating rice is stop mindless eating and control portion size. Rice contains methionine which helps mobilise fat from the liver.
Potatoes are actually very healthy but not when we use it by FAULTY COOKING like deep frying (chips, cutlet, French fries, etc.) But if they are included sensibly in diet it can protect against cardiovascular disease and cancer due to high potassium and Vitamin B6.
Belief #2 Late night meals means hello fatty :-p
This is one of the most believed myths ever!
But your weight is a result of what you eat throughout the day and not just at night. It is advisable to eat whenever you are carving for food but feed your stomach with right things like fruits, juices and all healthy stuff ONLY!!
Belief #3 Don’t eat outside while you are dieting~~
It’s true that all fast foods are unhealthy but still you can treat yourself by following these tips: -
- Don't take much high-calorie toppings like cheese, butter, mayonnaise; instead you can go for salsa, garlic dip, etc.
- Order fresh fruit juice or milkshake rather than soft drinks (Thumbs up, coca cola etc).
- Choose salad based wraps and burgers.
- Ask for steamed, baked or grilled items rather than deep fried.
Belief #4 Eat less, weigh less
GUYS DO NOT EVER THINK THAT EATING LESS IS GOING TO LOSE YOUR WEIGHT!!
If you eat less or skip meals you will end up eating more lately when you are extremely hungry! So that can be a major reason for weight gain! So start eating your meals in small parts throughout the day. I will explain this topic more in my future post!
Belief #5 Vegetarians are devoid of good protein sources
This is the most wrong thought we have in our mind!
I always shout that there are plenty of options for vegans too! (IF YOU WANT TO APPLY). Include at least three servings of milk and milk products (one glass milk, one cup curd (Dahi), 40g paneer), soybean, one serving of nuts to meet your protein requirement.
So here are some of the beliefs that stops your diet process in wrong way! Go through the depth of any thing before you apply it in your diet and you will be never distracted!
